“Delimitation Report Invalid”- Veritas Zimbabwe

Legal think tank Veritas Zimbabwe has wadded into the preliminary delimitation report released by the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission ZEC, arguing that the process is flawed .
In a commentary , Veritas said that the delimitation report is invalid.
“The Delimitation Process according to @veritaszim is invalid as stated by the constitution! The election is connected to the population census and delimitation process. The distribution of voters after the boundaries were drawn is unconstitutional!” read part of the reportVeritas Zimbabwe
Veritas also said that the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission ZEC misconstrued section 161 of the constitution of Zimbabwe
“… the effect of ZEC’s misconstruction of sec 161 of the constitution is to invalidate the preliminary delimitation report! “An election held according to this delimitation process is not in accordance with the constitution”.

Last week , the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission submitted a preliminary delimitation report to President Emmerson Mnangagwa. The delimitation report has since been tabled before Parliament and is set for debate on the 17 of January 2023.
