Youths encouraged to shun drugs

Youth, Arts, Sport, and Recreation Deputy Minister, Tino Machakaire, has urged the youths to unite for a common goal in nation-building and to shun drugs.
He urged everyone to report all drug peddlers operating in their communities to the police.
Machakaire was speaking as guest of honour at the Midlands Province Youth Inter-District meeting held at Mbizo Stadium in Kwekwe.
“Coming here we have come to unite all the youths and everyone in peace. We are appealing to our youths to come together for a common goal. We all have to work together as we can’t despise each other,” he said.
Machakaire lashed out at individuals peddling drugs and other illicit substances, saying they had affected the youths, who end up indulging in crime and other anti-social behaviours.
“We are encouraging the youths to desist from drug and substance abuse. We condemn every drug and I want to urge all the youths to report those dealing in drugs to the police,” he said.
Businessman Solomon Matsa, popularly known as King Solomon, hailed the country’s leadership for intensifying the fight against drug abuse.
“Today in Kwekwe we saw Honourable Machakaire coming together with other leaders encouraging the youths to shun drugs.
“As a community, we are pleased as it goes a long way in keeping our districts viable business wise. Drugs result in many youths being idle and rowdy.
“It’s important to have everyone united in this drive and preaching unity to everyone will go a long way in helping achieve this,” he said.
