Fugitive … Peter Dube (bottom right) has been on the run since the triple murder incident (victims on the image) IRELAND – A Gweru car dealer who allegedly shot and killed three people in the city in 2021 before disappearing has been arrested in Ireland on an unrelated matter. Peter Dube allegedly shot and killed his second wife Nyasha Nharingo, her suspected lover Shelton Chinhango, and friend to the wife, Gamuchirai Mudungwe in a suspected case of infidelity. After allegedly committing the crime, he escaped to South Africa, and then travelled on to Ireland under a false identity. He had been on the run for the past two years. Dube was on Wednesday arrested by Irish police, and appeared in court facing ‘unrelated, more minor, charges in the Republic.’ He was remanded in custody. Irish police said Dube had been arrested on Wednesday on suspicion of offences contrary to the Criminal Justice Theft and Fraud Offences Act 2001. “The male has appeared before the District Court and is currently remanded in custody,” the statement said. “As the male is currently before the court, An Garda Síochána has no further comment at this time.” Garda Síochána is the national police service of Ireland. The Zimbabwe Republic Police recently said Dube applied for international protection, with family members, in Ireland and was living in a facility in west Dublin pending the processing of his application. The Zimbabwean police then issued a red alert on Dube via Interpol, and are now in contact with Irish authorities over his possible extradition back home to face the suspected murder charges.
