‘Why we lost 4-0 to Tottenham’ – Manchester City boss Guardiola opens up

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has attempted to explain his side's 4-0 defeat to Tottenham Hotspur.

Ange Postecoglou’s Tottenham walked into the Etihad and left with all three points, battering the champions 4-0 and leaving Pep Guardiola with more questions than answers.

The champions had no answer for what the likes of James Maddison and Son Heung-Min threw at them, with Guardiola’s defence looking as vulnerable as ever. The City boss acknowledged that his team are currently vulnerable defensively, and must change things quickly to avoid losing even more games.

“At this moment we are fragile defensively. We started really well as normal but we could not score and then after that we conceded.

“After that, we conceded some more which is difficult for our emotions right now.

“The City boss recognized that this slump was unprecedented during his eight-year tenure.

“In eight years we have never lived in this kind of situation.

“At this moment, we have to live it and break it by winning the next games, especially the next one, and maybe we will see things differently.”

The champions will have a chance to bounce back when they welcome Feyenoord to the Etihad in the UEFA Champions League on Tuesday.
