Mozambique’s opposition leader said he’ll decide on the next phase of protests that have wracked the southern African nation after disputed elections almost three months ago, as the death toll from the unrest continued to climb.

Venâncio Mondlane, who claims he won the Oct. 9 vote, had earlier warned he’d call for a fresh wave of demonstrations this week. He’s now considering suspending the protests for five days to allow for the burial of people who’ve died and for international organizations to investigate the killings.
