Teen up for rape, robbery
A 19-YEAR-OLD man appeared in court yesterday facing armed robbery and rape charges.
Fidel Guzha and his alleged accomplice, Seth Mutyambizi, 21, were not asked to plead when they appeared before Harare magistrate Taurai Manuwere. They were remanded into custody until November 21 for routine remand. They were advised to approach the High Court for bail considerations as they are facing a third schedule offense.
The court heard that on September 29, at around 11pm, the duo connived to rob the complainant, who is unnamed in State paper
They allegedly armed themselves with wooden sticks and a knife, and went to the complainant’s house in Southerton.
They broke down the door and went to the main bedroom where the complainant was sleeping with his wife. The duo assaulted the couple with sticks, demanding money.
They ransacked the house and stole US$265 and two cellphones. It is alleged that one of them went to another bedroom where a young woman was asleep. He produced a knife and threatened to kill her. He demanded money from her before raping her once, without protection.
The family reported the matter to the police, and the two were arrested on Friday.
