Highlanders restore four-point lead, FC Platinum held

BULAWAYO – Highlanders restored their four-point lead at the top of the Castle Lager Premiership log standings with a 1-0 defeat of third placed Manica Diamonds in the headline fixture of Week 16 of the campaign played at Barbourfields Stadium.

Rock solid defender Peter Muduhwa came in with the all-important goal for Bosso after 27 minutes into the clash watched by a bumper crowd.

In other matches, champions FC Platinum dropped points in a goalless draw away to Hwange at the Colliery.

Sheasham and Black Rhinos also played to a goalless stalemate at Bata stadium while Simba Bhora lost to ZPC Kariba 2-0 at Baobab.

Following Week 16 of the premiership fixtures, Highlanders still top the standings on 34 points from 16 matches played.

Ngezi Platinum are second on 30 while Manica Diamonds kept their third position on 26 points despite their defeat to Highlanders, the only side that remains unbeaten so far this season.

FC Platinum leapfrogged Dynamos to grab fourth spot while the latter and Chicken Inn are fifth and sixth respectively, both on 25 points.
